San Antonio Spurs player Patrick “Patty” Mills was subjected to racist slurs Sunday at the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland, according to a video circulating on social media.
Microphones captured a man taunting Mills as he attempted to shoot a free throw during an NBA game against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Sunday.
A Twitter user asked whether she was the only one who heard the insults.
“Hey Jamaican dog, they want their bobsledder back,” a man can be heard yelling at Mills.
@KingJames am I the only one who heard this guy in the crowd yell “hey Jamaican dog they want their bobsledder back! Hey @Patty_Mills Jamaica just called, they want their bobsledder back!” 😳😠🙅🏾♀️ #SundayFunday ??? @NBA pic.twitter.com/RvHdu88Gzd

Mills, who isn’t Jamaican, but a native Australian from the Torres Strait, responded on Twitter at the taunts directed at him.
Thanks @thats_Z_Truth. I am a proud Islander. Like my Jamaican Brothers, me & my family in the islands of the Torres Strait have experienced racial slurs for decades. Hope your efforts will enlighten this confused, hateful fan. #BlackHistoryMonth https://t.co/yH3nKlGv4A
