R&B singer Chris Brown is scheduled to make a return appearance in D.C. Superior Court Wednesday on misdemeanor assault charges after an alleged altercation outside the W Hotel in the 500 block of 15th Street NW in October. The 24-year-old entertainer — along with his friend and bodyguard, Christopher Hollosy, 35, who also faces assault charges — are scheduled to appear with their attorneys before Senior Judge Patricia Wynn.

Accounts of how the altercation started have varied. Authorities say the altercation was a result of a dispute when a male sought a photograph with Brown outside a nightclub where Brown was hosting a party during Howard University’s homecoming weekend. Others have stated that the man tried to board Brown’s tour bus. Brown and Hollosy are accused of striking the man. Brown’s attorney, Danny Onorato, said at the time that his client is innocent and that Brown’s security was protecting him.

Brown and his bodyguard initially were charged with a felony, but the charges were reduced to a misdemeanor after further investigation.
