Ciara and her NFL superstar husband, Russell Wilson, have been relationship goals for about four years. Since their 2016 engagement, fans have jokingly asked the singer what she prayed for to get her fairytale romance.
On Monday, during a YouTube live stream event for her new album, Beauty Marks, Ciara was candid about what she wanted from her next relationship after splitting with rapper Future and becoming a single mom in 2014.
First and foremost, the Grammy winner said she learned to love herself so that she could get the love she deserved and also give love in the same way.
“I prayed for a God-fearing man. I prayed for discernment. I prayed for wisdom, to really learn from the wisdom that I’ve gained from the experience that I’m going through,” she told host and radio personality Angie Martinez.
She added, “I prayed for a man that loved kids, because, obviously me having my son, if you’re gonna love me you’ve got to love him. I prayed for a man that was worldly as well. Because I love to explore so someone that was gonna edify my world, that was important to me. I was ready to level up!”
The Seattle Seahawks quarterback and Ciara met in 2015 and were married in July 2016. In April 2017, the couple welcomed their daughter, Sienna. She gave a glimpse at both her wedding and the birth of her daughter in the music video for "Beauty Marks," the title track off her fifth studio album.
