Eddie Murphy announced that Coming to America 2 is officially happening after nearly 35 years since the original premiered.

"After many years of anticipation, I’m thrilled that Coming to America 2 is officially moving forward,” Murphy said in a statement, according to Deadline.

“We’ve assembled a great team that will be led by Craig Brewer, who just did an amazing job on Dolemite, and I’m looking forward to bringing all these classic and beloved characters back to the big screen.”

The comedian will produce the sequel along with Kevin Misher. Black-ish creator Kenya Barris is the executive producer and will rewrite a script for the follow-up film, which was crafted by Coming to America writers Barry Blaustein and David Sheffield.

In part two, Murphy will reprise his role as Prince Akeem, who instead of traveling to America to find a queen is searching for a long lost son. Paramount hopes to bring back the original cast including James Earl Jones, Arsenio Hall, Shari Headley and John Amos.

Production will reportedly being later this year.
