If you’re like us, then it’s no secret that your heart swelled up into your throat after hearing President Obama sing Al Green’s classic “Let’s Stay Together” at the famed Apollo Theater earlier this month. It seems like we’re not the only ones who was impressed, as American Idol creator Nigel Lythgoe used social media to make a viral plea. The English television and film producer hopped on Twitter yesterday to tweet the would-be “Crooner-in-Chief,” saying, “We loved your vocal performance so much, we’d love to invite you on to American Idol this season for a duet with Al Green.”
While there’s no doubt that millions of fans (and foes) of President Obama would tune in to watch, we are scratching our head at everyone’s liberal usage of Obama. Whether it is a finger-waggin’ Jan Brewer, or Newt Gingrich calling him a “food-stamp president,” it seems like they aren’t content with having a Black man for a leader unless he’s willing to entertain.
