It’s no doubt that Courtney A. Kemp’s pen game is crazy tight. As the creator, showrunner and executive producer of Power starring Omari Hardwick, Naturi Naughton Joseph Sikora and 50 Cent, she’s able to tap into the complexities and contradictions of the human being.

And not just within a single character but within a series of characters – like the entire cast of the Starz hit show.

Because of her gift, Starz and Lionsgate have expanded their relationship with the content creator and signed her to an exclusive multi-year overall deal. The extended partnership will allow Kemp to develop and produce new projects for the premium cable network as well as other content via Kemp’s End of Episode production company. But, no worries, the creative will stay onboard her duties as the executive producer and showrunner on Power.

“This new deal presents a wonderful opportunity to extend my creative efforts on Power while developing new shows for Lionsgate,” Kemp said in a statement.

Starz President and CEO, Chris Albrecht gushed about Kemp’s talent, stating, “Courtney A. Kemp is the complete showrunner package, and we’re thrilled to continue collaborating with such a creative talent and outstanding producer. We are proud to see Courtney receive the recognition she deserves in our industry and are pleased the combined ‘power’ of Starz and Lionsgate offers even greater opportunity for her -and us- in the creative community.”

Power marked Kemp’s debut as a show creator and showrunner. Prior to that, she was gaining her weight in the industry as a writer and supervising producer on The Good Wife.

Hence, her latest social media posting letting folks know that nothing happens overnight.
