Orange is the New Black actress Danielle Brooks is letting her sisters know just how valuable they are on new single, “Black Woman.”

The soulful track finds the South Carolinian keeping it 100 on the trendiness of Black features on everyone except Black women, singing “You want my thighs, you want my stride but not this melanin/ you want my hair, but you don’t care for this complexion.”

Brooks discussed the song with The Huffington Post, saying she felt previous anthems for Black women have not been as honest as they could be.

“I think I have heard a lot of black girl anthems but I felt what was lacking was ... I felt like most of them had filters. I’d never really heard the nitty-gritty of those things that we struggle with every day,” Brooks shared. “And throwing them at the world and say, 'Hey. Can you hear my story? Can you see me?' And all of me. Not just physically but my mind, my spirit, my soul, my heart, can you feel that? Do you know what we experience every day? Do you care to know what we experience by the way in which you walk in your life?”
