Washington, D.C., is honoring several icons with their very own Walk of Fame.
The new $400,000 project will salute artists who’ve performed at the famed Howard Theatre since its 1910 opening, reports WUSA 9. The Walk of Fame will clearly parallel the famous Hollywood Walk of Fame in Los Angeles, but instead of stars, bronze medallions and sculptures will be placed along a .1 mile walkway leading up to the theatre.
Artists to be honored on the new Walk of Fame include Pearl Bailey, James Brown, Cab Calloway, Ella Fitzgerald, Marvin Gaye, Moms Mabley, Sister Rosetta Tharpe and others.
Several Howard Theatre managers and owners will also be honored.
On the West Coast, rapper Snoop Dogg recently landed his own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
“Snoop Dogg is one of those people who can do anything. He raps, he acts, he hosts a television show, he cooks, and helps community kids with his philanthropic work,” said producer of the Hollywood Walk of Fame, Ana Martinez, to Variety. “He is a man of the ages and we welcome him to our Hollywood Walk of Fame.”
