Dennis Hof, a brothel owner and reality TV star, won a seat in Nevada’s 36th Assembly District on Tuesday although he died last month, according to NBC News.

Hof, who ran as a Republican, defeated Democratic challenger Lesia Romanov by more than 7,000 votes. He was most known for starring in the HBO adult series, Cathouse, and for owning a few brothels in Nevada, the only U.S. jurisdiction to allow some legal prostitution.

A Republican will be chosen by county officials to take his place in the seat.  The heavily GOP district is located in the southern part of Nevada and includes vast stretches of desert and rural communities.

The self-proclaimed pimp previously ran for office in 2016 as a Libertarian but lost. In June, he won the district’s primary and gave credit to President Donald Trump.

“It’s all because Donald Trump was the Christopher Columbus for me,” Hof told the Associated Press in a phone call. “He found the way and I jumped on it.”

He even labeled himself “The Trump of Pahrump,[Nevada].”

On Tuesday, voters were to decide on the closure of brothels in Lyon County, Nevada, where Hof owned four.

Several individuals believe that brothels exploit prostitutes. The reality-star-turned-politician strategized his campaign based on his legal prostitution business and the idea that bordellos help to decrease the sex trafficking epidemic.

Hof died on Oct. 16, just two days after celebrating his 72nd birthday with prominent figures from the adult industry and other politicians. An official cause of death has not been reported.

His body was discovered as his Love Ranch brothel by a staff member and adult star Ron Jeremy.

The Love Ranch is infamous because it is where former NBA player Lamar Odom—after a $75,000 four-day stay—was found unconscious in 2015.

Nevada County voters rejected the proposition to get rid of brothels.
