From roles in WGN's Underground to Spike Lee's She's Gotta Have It remake, actress DeWanda Wise has proven that she's a rising star Hollywood should definitely be on the look out for. Most recently, Wise put her acting skills to the test in Netflix's new romantic comedy Someone Great, where her star power shined bright.

The film follows Jenny (Gina Rodriguez), an aspiring journalist preparing to move across the country to San Francisco for her dream job at a revered music magazine. Jenny links up with her best friends Erin (played by Wise) and Blair (Brittany Snow) for one last hurrah after her boyfriend of nine years decided to call it quits.

Erin's larger-than-life personality keeps her bestie's spirits up while she attempts to party her way through her heartbreak. Over the course of the film, Erin struggles with committing to her girlfriend and realizes it's an indication of a larger problem she's experiencing.

The dynamic on-screen kinship between Wise and Rodriguez stems from a close personal relationship they share. According to W Magazine, both actors met more than 15 years ago when they were training at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts.

Someone Great is available for streaming on Netflix. Check out the trailer below.
