It looks like Drake may be returning to his roots, and I don’t mean Toronto. According to the British tabloid The Mirror, the actor-turned-rapper will be assuming a role on the popular U.K series, Top Boy.

Set in an East London estate (housing project), Top Boy follows Ra’Nell (Malcolm Kamulete), a smart but vulnerable teen who’s trying to stay afloat despite major challenges, and Dushane (Ashley Walters), a major drug dealer, as he deals with all of the drama and tension that comes along with staying on top.

The show premiered in 2011 on Britain’s Chanel 4, running for two seasons before being dropped. Drake apparently picked up the rights to the show last year and plans to appear on a new season, which could be on Netflix by 2018.

The show’s star explained how Drake’s involvement in the show came about.

“We met up to start talking about the show and we are working out a role for him,” Walters, who’s also a rapper, told The Mirror.  “He loves acting, of course he wanted a part. He’s going to be really hands on and is getting stuck into it.”

Appearing in Top Boy would be a good fit for Drake, as it marries two of his loves–acting and London. In recent years, the Canadian rapper has been collaborating with U.K. artists like Skepta and Giggs and incorporating the style, slang, and swag of the city’s grime scene into his music. Appearing on the show would also mark Drake’s return to TV. Back in 2001, he played Jimmy in the teen soap opera, Degrassi: The Next Generation.
