If you’re a fan of the NBA, I hope for your sake that you stay up late to watch the West Coast games on NBATV.  As I relaxed on the couch a little after midnight watching the newly-regenerated Los Angeles Clippers take on the Oklahoma City Thunder with my preferred late-night snack (Goldfish and Pepsi FTW) something incredible happened. Blake Griffin went up and over a defender — abdomen to face — and powered down a dunk that ESPN will be showing for the rest of the year.

It wasn’t just any highlight slam; Blake topped his dunk from last year over Timofey Mozgov, which no one thought he could ever do. You see, this wasn’t just any defender. This was the seven-foot, Kendrick Perkins who holds down the middle for the Oklahoma City Thunder, one of the most exciting teams in the League and the holder of the best record in the NBA right now.

This wasn’t the same as when LeBron James went up and over John Lucas last Sunday. Blake took off from the floor with the ball in both hands and Perkins went up… or tried to go up with him. Needless to say, he didn’t make it.

I’m hesitant to say things like this but, in this shortened NBA season, I don’t think that dunk will be topped. Give that man a Kia Optima!
