The 6th Annual Black Women in Media Conference has honored EBONY Chairwoman Eden Bridgeman Sklenar.

The six-day hybrid experience began on Monday, November 15th and will conclude on Friday, November 19th online at blackwomeninmedia.com.

The conference will feature panels, fireside chats, masterclasses, and keynote speakers, along with an entertainment lounge, a beauty Lounge, and a virtual Mall, promoting small, Black-owned businesses.

“Black women continue to disrupt their industries through their creativity, innovation and genius. Our contribution is undeniable—yet we receive fewer accolades, fewer career advancement opportunities, and less pay,” says Black Women in Media, Founder + CEO, Judith Jacques-Laguerre. “We have created a platform that uplifts and empowers Black women in these spaces.”

Since January 2021, Bridgeman Sklenar, a graduate of the University of Louisville and Loyola University, Chicago, has been instrumental in the rebranding of EBONY, which has been a pillar of the Black community for over 75 years.

“If you were ever wanting to know what was happening with African American culture, all you had to do was pick up an EBONY or JET and flip through the pages,” Bridgeman-Sklenar said in an interview with the New York Times.

Bridgeman Sklenar noted that the timing could not be better for EBONY to chart a new future of the historic brand.

“You just have to look at today,” she said. “The historic moment of an African American and South Asian woman vice president, to everything that happened in the past year, of voices being heard in a way that they haven’t been before.”

The awards ceremony will be taped on November 17th in Long Island, New York, and stream on Saturday, November 20th, from 6pm until 10pm.

Congratulations to Eden Bridgeman Sklenar on your incredible honor.
