EBONY's "leaders of the new school" are making their mark in Hollywood and are here to stay. They are a collection of 23 Black actors who best embody "next-level elevation" through career defining roles, such as Damson Idris, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, India Ria Amarteifio and Ncuti Gatwa. To celebrate these fine young actors, EBONY hosted a pre-Oscars dinner at the Merois restaurant in the Pendry hotel located in West Hollywood, Los Angeles. Distinguished guests of the evening included Dominique Fishback, LaKeith Stanfield, Shamier Anderson, Dominique Thorne, Sinqua Walls, Jay Pharoah, Amber Riley, Tyler Lepley, Jalyn Hall, William Catlett, Keith Powers, Jerrie Johnson, Shoniqua Shandai, Jordan E. Cooper, Teyona Parris and many more.
Upon arrival, attendees of the dinner took in a breath-taking rooftop view of West Hollywood with a stunning intimate atmosphere. The florals in the space were provided by Bia Blooms and the photo wall was done by AB Procured, two Black-owned businesses.
The DJ duo Angel and Dren spun sick beats while guests connected with one another and enjoyed a three-course meal. The first course options were a salmon tartare with crispy rice and radish or a hamachi tartare with ginger chili vinaigrette and cucumber. A Mexicali quinoa salad and an octopus salad were the second course options, while the final course were beef short ribs. Alongside this delectable selection, guests enjoyed drink pairings from the evening's wine sponsor Cardinale.
Rapper Saint Jhn performed a set for the convivial group. At the end of the fun evening, EBONY's CEO Eden Bridgeman Sklenar took time to address the actors in attendance and express immense pride in their artistic achievements.
