Getting his start in the mid-1990s, DMX rose to instant fame with his first two albums "It's Dark and Hell Is Hot" and "Flesh of My Flesh, Blood of My Blood." Both released in 1998, the albums went on to debut at #1 within the same year. To date, he is the only rapper in history to have his first three albums chart as #1 on the Billboard Top 100. No other rapper has been able to accomplish the same.

DMX’s notoriety for his raw vocals and even more blunt lyrics will span beyond his legacy and continue to impact artists for years to come. His ability to formulate light out of his own darkness and life experience spoke volumes for many within our community. From his prayers to the most high on his most memorable tracks to his iconic adlibs and fashion sense, Hip Hop culture has undoubtedly taken nods from the lyricist in multiple ways.

As a last tribute to his legacy, here are some of his best songs that embody the true essence of Dark Man X.
