14-Year-Old Shot by Gas Station Owner in South Carolina
A 14-year-old child was shot and killed by the owner of a South Carolina gas station. Cyrus Carmack-Belton was accused by Rick Chow of stealing a bottle of water; the allegation ended up not being true.
Chow has been charged with murder, and protests have since ensued in the area. Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott said in a public statement, "He did not shoplift anything. We have no evidence that he stole anything whatsoever...that’s not something you shoot anybody over, much less a 14-year-old."
T.I. and Tiny Lose Lawsuit Over L.O.L. Dolls
After weeks of back and forth, T.I. and Tiny Harris lost their lawsuit against the creators of the L.O.L. Dolls. MGA Entertainment. The $100 million copyright infringement lawsuit was brought about by the couple as they want to prove that the brand used the likeness of the OMG Girlz, a singing ground Tiny formed over a decade ago. The girl group used eccentric colors and clothing as a main part of their identity similar to the L.O.L. Dolls.
Chloe x Halle Announced as Crocs Newest Ambassadors
Today, Chloe and EBONY May 2023 cover star Halle Bailey—known as the singing duo Chloe x Halle—announced that they are the newest ambassadors for the footwear brand Crocs. The sisters announced the partnership with a fun Instagram video in which they played a game of "this or that." This is the first collaborative project that we've seen from the duo in a while since they've been working on their own solo endeavors.
