Cousin of Emmett Till Officially Files Arrest Warrant
Patricia Sterling of Jackson, Mississippi, a cousin of the late Emmett Till, has officially filed an arrest warrant against Carolyn Donham, the woman whose false accusation led to Till's death. The relative is asking that a sheriff arrest her so that she may spend the rest of her days serving justice for her actions.
"We are using the available means at our disposal to try to achieve justice on behalf of the Till family," Sterling's attorney Trent Walker stated.
ASL Interpreter Justina Miles Makes History During the Super Bowl
American Sign Language interpreter Justina Miles went viral for her enthusiastic interpretation style during the Super Bowl televised activities. Namely, her ASL aid to Sheryl Lee Ralph’s rendition of the Black National Anthem snd Rihanna's performance attracted the attention of many. Miles is the first Black woman to be an ASL interpreter during a Super Bowl game. She is also an HBCU graduate.
“(It’s) not only for me to share this experience with the whole world but to really bring that empowerment to millions and millions of Black deaf people all over the country who’ve never really seen that before. I feel that is truly lifting every voice, even my voice,” said Miles in an interview to CNBC.
