Last night was the Met Gala, celebrating the Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and Catholic Imagination exhibit, opening May 10. Fashion’s biggest night out brought out a stellar mix of some of the biggest stars, creatives and influencers in the game. We were entranced by all of the divine brown faces in attendance from the evening’s beatific cohost and queen Rihanna, the otherworldly chanteuse SZA, the always exquisite Janelle Monáe, the enchanting Kerri Washington and the regal Letitia Wright.

We caught up with Wright’s makeup artist, Tasha Reiko Brown, for a few of the deets on the Black Panther and Avengers: Infinity Wars star’s celestial look for the evening. “I was inspired by Letitia’s Coach gown that was reminiscent of Ethiopian Christianity. Playing off the metallic tones of the dress, I wanted to create a bold metallic look for Letitia to give her dramatic eyes,” says Brown. Here, the famed celebrity makeup artist gives us the low-down on how we, too, can recreate the stunning actress’s divine look:

Start by using Lancôme Teint Idole Ultra 24H Long Wear Foundation for a flawless base. (Brown used the shade 550 on Wright.)

Then, dab a bit of Lancôme’s Dual Finish Highlighter in Dazzling Bronze on the high points of your cheekbones for a radiant glow.

Next, to build up your brows’ shape and keep them in place, brush with Lancôme Sourcils Styler in Brun. (It’s more flattering and natural-looking than a deep black.)

For a bit of drama to the eyes, use Lancôme Drama Liqui-Pencil in Noir Diamant, winging the line up and out. Then, apply Monsieur Big Waterproof Mascara to your lashes for loads of volume.

For a metal sheen look to the lids, crush and mix together Lancôme Color Design Eyeshadow in Bronze Amour and Kissed by Gold. For buttery soft lips, tap on Lancôme L’Absolu Gloss in Atelier Parisien and Clair Obscur to complement the eyes but not overpower them.

Next, tone done down the natural rose tone of your lips with Lancôme Le Lipstique in Golden Nude, and finish with a slick of L’Absolu Gloss in Escapade on top.
