JAY-Z helped bring in Saturday Night Live‘s new season with some help from the host, Ryan Gosling. The hip-hop legend and mogul performed two songs off his chart-topping album 4;44 on his first televised performance this year.

Adorned in Colin Kaepernick’s “7” jersey, Jigga started off with the reggae-inspired “Bam.” Led by the No I.D. production, Damian “Jr. Gong” Marley joined him on stage for the conscious cut. His second performance was a confessional of sorts, as he rapped the transparent “4:44.” Taking the stage alone, he told the turbulent love story between him and his wife, Beyoncé. Watch both performances below.

Hov is set to hit a stage near you, kicking off his 4:44 Tour on Oct. 27 in Anaheim, Calif. Check out tour dates below and watch the performances on TIDAL here.
