Roxane Gay wants to step into the DC Universe.

The famed author took to Twitter and offered to write for DC’s Batgirl after it was announced that Buffy the Vampire Slayer creator Joss Whedon, who had signed on to write and direct the movie, exited the film.

Batgirl is such an exciting project, and Warners/DC such collaborative and supportive partners, that it took me months to realize I really didn’t have a story,” Whedon told The Hollywood Reporter on Thursday.

Michele Wells, vice president of Warner Brothers Entertainment and DC Comics, noticed the tweet and wanted Gay to reach out, which she said she would.

Gay isn’t a stranger to the superhero world. In 2016, she was tapped to write the comic World of Wakanda, a spin-off of Marvel’s Black Panther.
