EBONY caught up with Solo: A Star Wars Story co-stars Thandie Newton (Val) and Woody Harrelson (Beckett) after the film’s premiere, at which the Westworld star made a comparison between Donald Glover and the late Tupac Shakur.

The award-winning actress starred with  Shakur in the 1995 film Gridlock’d; now, she is acting alongside Glover in the latest Star Wars movie and offered insight into how the multitalented entertainers are alike. After learning that both men went to performing arts high schools, Newton said, “That’s interesting,” considering they both spent time as actors and rappers. She went on to reveal, “Donald has what Tupac had without the self-harming element.” Newton recalled Shakur carrying around anger and generational trauma because of what his mother, Afeni Shakur, a jailed member of the Black Panthers, went through.
