EBONY is gearing up for its annual celebration of #BlackExcellence, and it’s going to be good. This year’s Power 100 gala will be held at the iconic Beverly Hilton Hotel on December 1, where the magazine will honor 100 of the nation’s leading African-Americans from a variety of fields, including business, medicine, sports, media, religion, the creative arts and more.

Presented by Nationwide, the annual Power 100 gala will be hosted by Original King of Comedy, Cedric The Entertainer. Legendary actress Cicely Tyson, and Philip Bailey, Verdine White and Ralph Johnson of Earth, Wind & Fire will all be receiving the EBONY Lifetime Achievement award. Grammy-award winning musician Nile Rodgers, co-founder CHIC, will receive the EBONY Icon Award.

Among the game changers honored on this year’s EBONY Power 100 list are NIKE executive Trevor Edwards, Procter & Gamble’s William P. Gipson and FedEx’s Matt Thornton. Beyoncé, NFL player Colin Kaepernick, comedian Kevin Hart, tennis champion Serena Williams, singer Solange, artist Chance The Rapper, NBA All-Star Carmelo Anthony, and Web-turned-television star Issa Rae are also being lauded for their accomplishments.

Nationwide Chief Marketing Officer, Terrance Williams, congratulated this year’s group of honorees.

“Nationwide congratulates the distinguished honorees of the 2016 Ebony Power 100 list. We celebrate the leadership that members of the current and past Power 100 list have demonstrated through their work and the accomplishments they’ve achieved that are making a difference in the lives of so many.”

The magazine rolled out the Power 100 list with four striking covers featuring director Ava DuVernay, musicians-turned-producers Nas and John Legend, and decorated Olympian Simone Biles. The issue will be widely available the first week of December.
