Eddie Murphy starred in some of the 1980s biggest blockbusters, and is ready to introduce a new generation to his slew of classic characters.

The comedian has already confirmed that fan favorites Coming to America and Beverly Hills Cop will receive the reboot treatment. Cinema Blend now reports that the former stand-up will also be updating buddy cop film, 48 Hrs.

Benny and Josh Safdie, the brother film making team behind this year’s Good Time, will direct the action remake. Jerrod Carmichael of The Carmichael Show is set to write alongside screenwriter Ronald Bronstein.

There’s yet to be confirmation of Murphy’s role in the remake. The 56-year-old could possibly reprise his role as Reggie Hammond or could simply take on the role of executive producer. The 1982 film was directed by Walter Hill and helped launch the big-screen career of the comedy legend.

While facts surrounding the update are scarce, Murphy’s next sequel, Beverly Hills Cop 4, is set to take place in Detroit, with the transplanted Axel Foley returning home and clashing with a hardened cop while tracking a criminal.
