If you have yet to experience the Smithsonian’s National African American Museum of History and Culture, access has been granted as ABC will air an all-star tribute hosted by the institution on January 12.
Shadow and Act reports that the “Take the Stage: African American Music and Stories That Changed America”, program will serve up two hours of music, dance and spoken word with performances and appearances ranging from Quincy Jones, Stevie Wonder, Patti Austin, to Will and Jada Pinkett-Smith, Chloe x Halle, Jamie Foxx and Mary J. Blige, to name a few. A stellar list of athletes, artists and renowned dignitaries that have made contributions to the global cultural landscape will unite in celebration at Washington’s John F. Kennedy Center for Performing Arts.
Viewers and attendees will also get treated to a feature film that showcases items from the museum’s iconic collections. Quincy Jones serves as an executive producer of the film alongside Don Mischer, Don Mischer Productions’ Charlie Haykel and Juliane Hare.
Filmed back in September, “Take the Stage: African American Music and Stories That Changed America” airs nationwide on ABC, Jan. 12 at 9pm EST.
