Music biopics are all the rage lately with films like Straight Outta Compton raking in big bucks at the box office and miniseries like The New Edition Story drawing in millions of viewers. This summer, another one of music’s major stories will hit the big screen–Tupac’s life.

In All Eyez On Me, Tupac’s big, complicated, abbreviated life gets the cinematic treatment in Benny Boom’s highly-anticipated film that will hit theaters just in time for the legendary rapper’s 46th birthday and close out this year’s American Black Film Festival.

Interested? Peep the official synopsis of the film:

All Eyez On Me tells the true and untold story of prolific rapper, actor, poet and activist Tupac Shakur. The film follows Shakur from his early days in New York City to his evolution into being one of the world’s most recognized and influential voices before his untimely death at the age of 25. Against all odds, Shakur’s raw talent, powerful lyrics and revolutionary mind-set propelled him into becoming a cultural icon whose legacy continues to grow long after his passing.

The film stars newcomer Demetrius Shipp, Jr., who looks eerily like ‘Pac, Kat Graham, Lauren Cohan, Hill Harper, Jamal Woolard, Jamie Hector, and Danai Gurira.
