During Bill Cosby’s recent dinner outing in Philadelphia, the once widely esteemed pillar of Black entertainment, had a very specific request for one reporter.

The Philadelphia native, who has allegedly sexually assaulted over 60 women, reportedly told a female journalist from the Philadelphia Inquirer he wanted no references implicating him in the recent widespread movement against sexual assault.

“Please don’t put me on #MeToo,” the 80-year-old told the reporter on Wednesday before adding: “I just shook your hand like a man.”

“Me Too” was coined by fellow Philadelphian Tarana Burke as an expression of unity and companionship among survivors of sexual assault. The phrase was incidentally re-appropriated in October when actress Alyssa Milano encouraged those who have experienced sexual assault and/or harassment to come forward with their stories by using the two words.

In June, a mistrial was declared in Cosby’s alleged 2004 rape of Andrea Constand.

Cosby told reporters at the dinner he and his team were “ready” for the retrial scheduled to take place in April.
