Cedric the Entertainer is no stranger to the small screen. The stand-up comedian has been making us laugh since his days as Cedric Jackie Robinson on the ’90s sitcom The Steve Harvey Show.

The comic also starred in TV Land’s The Soul Man, a spin-off of network favorite Hot in Cleveland.

Now, the Def Comedy Jam veteran truly has a full plate: Not only will he star in BET scripted reality series The Comedy Get Down with four fellow comedians, but Cedric also just inked a deal with CBS for his own show, according to Deadline.

Under his new contract, the network will develop multiple scripts as starring vehicles for Cedric with the intention for one of them to go to pilot.

The first project under the deal is multicamera workplace comedy Ladder 54. The series will focus on a crew of firefighters that is led by a devoted captain (Cedric) who has just as many fires to put out at home as he does on the job.

The 53-year-old funnyman can next be seen on TBS comedy series The Last O.G. opposite Tracy Morgan. The series, executive produced by Jordan Peele and John Carcieri, centers on Tray (Morgan), an ex-con who is shocked to see just how much the world has changed when he is released from prison for good behavior after a 15-year stint, according to TheHollywoodReporter.

Cedric will portray Miniard Mullins, the head of the halfway house where Tray comes to stay after prison.
