One would think backlash from tone-deaf commercials like Pepsi’s and Dodge’s would lead other companies to be more careful when it comes to their messaging, but Chicago’s Chance the Rapper recently picked up on another ad one could consider prejudice in nature.
A new Heineken commercial with the tagline, “Sometimes Lighter is Better” rubbed the “No Problem” MC the wrong way, with the Grammy winner tweeting that he believes some companies purposefully use inciting language to stir up controversy and increase views.
“That sh*t racist/bogus so I guess I shouldn’t help by posting about it. But 😂 I gotta just say tho. The “sometimes lighter is better” Hienekin [sic] commercial is terribly racist omg.”
I think some companies are purposely putting out noticably racist ads so they can get more views. And that shit racist/bogus so I guess I shouldn’t help by posting about it. But 😂 I gotta just say tho. The “sometimes lighter is better” Hienekin commercial is terribly racist omg

In the visual, a bartender slides a Heineken to a fair-skinned patron, but only after it passes three people of color, ending with the phrase, “sometimes lighter is better.” Check out the video below.
