According to the Blast, Da Brat is in danger of losing the money she made for appearing in the play Set it Off to Shayla Stevens, former NFL cheerleader, who hit the rapper with a lawsuit over a 2007 nightclub assault. In December 2017, a jury found Brat responsible and ordered her to pay Stevens $6.4 million.

The former So So Def rapper played Cleo during the run of the theater adaption of Set It Off, which ran for three months in Atlanta and is now touring in various cities around the nation. She has yet to pay Stevens any of her settlement money.

As a result, the victim has now subpoenaed Ticketmaster, who sold tickets to the play, requesting they turn over all contracts with Da Brat and any information about her salary. However, the entertainment company says Da Brat was never their employee and asked that they not be included in the matter.

Stevens alleges that she has significant scarring, neurological damage and mental pain after Da Brat reportedly hit her in the face with a rumor bottle during the 2007 incident.
