DMX is currently serving one year in jail for his tax evasion case. According to The Blast, DMX isn’t letting his time behind bars stop him from making career moves. The rapper is said to be making new music and fielding offers for movies and books about his life.

The 47-year-old is said to be in good spirits while serving his time at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in New York. He received the lenient sentencing after his legal team played his music about his hardships to the judge.  X’s lawyer, Murray Richman reported to the site that the Yonkers native “looks great, is very happy, and overall, is doing remarkably well.”

DMX is waiting to be transferred to FCI Danbury to serve out the remainder of his sentence. This is the facility that is highlighted in Netflix’s Orange is the New Black. Once there the rapper will be in treatment programs and have a daily job, Richman says he will fit in music sessions throughout his schedule.

DMX has also received over 600 items of fan mail since being sentenced to time in prison. Richman says they have come from all over the world but unfortunately X cannot receive them because they are not permitted in jail.

Upon being released X will have to pay $2.3M of his debt. Hopefully, he takes on some great deals to maximize his payout.
