Erica Campbell

Gospel singer Erica Campbell opened up about struggles she faced in her life on her TV One family reality series, We’re the Campbells, including suffering from a miscarriage and considering suicide when she was 12 years old.

During episode No. 105, which airs on July 17,  the Mary Mary singer is focusing on writing her first book and finding her voice as an author. After being told to dig deeper she reveals that she suffered a miscarriage during her marriage to Warryn Campbell when her friend discloses difficulty with trying to conceive.

“There’s so many feelings going along with having a miscarriage and it’s not always easy to explain,” the Mary Mary singer says. “I think that women should talk about it more because once a mom finds out she’s having a baby [she] falls in love with that baby before [she] even sees it.”

Erica on Contemplating Suicide

During a conversation about her book, the singer reveals to her husband that she had contemplated suicide in her youth. “I remember when I was 12 and we were living in Inglewood and I tried to kill myself,” she says. Warryn expresses shock at the revelation saying, “Wow, I’ve known my wife for 20 something years and it’s crazy I never heard that before.”

The nine-episode docu-series airs on TV One on Tuesdays at 8 p.m. EST.
