According to Bossip, Fabolous, born John Jackson, will reportedly make a plea deal to avoid incarceration on charges that he assaulted his longtime girlfriend, Emily Bustamante. The rapper appeared in Bergen County Superior Court on Thursday (June 29), for an “early disposition hearing,” where his lawyer said he planned to take a “pre-trial intervention” deal.

The deal means the Brooklyn native will likely plead guilty to a lesser charge and participate in a diversion program first-time offenders that lasts for between six months to a few years. If Jackson completes the program, the domestic assault charges will be expunged from his record.

In March, Bustamante accused the father of her two sons of punching out her two front teeth and making threats against her father and brother. Jackson turned himself into New Jersey police and was charged with aggravated assault and terroristic threats, facing three to five years in prison if convicted.

Shortly after the incident, however, the couple reconciled and were spotted at the Coachella music festival in April. Bustamante even accompanied the rapper to one of the court dates about the abuse claims.

Jackson will return to court next month.
