Gabrielle Union and Dwyane Wade welcomed their first daughter together via surrogate last Thursday, announcing the birth of their “miracle” baby on social media soon after.

Although Union is a proud stepmother to her husband’s children, this is her first biological child, and she’s fully embracing every aspect of being a new mommy.

“So perhaps I haven’t showered or brushed my teeth or slept, but I’m in heaven,” the actress shared via Instagram. “I stink but I’m happy.”

Shortly thereafter, she shared another photo of her and her newborn during “Cuddle time.”

“We are sleepless and delirious but so excited to share that, our miracle baby, arrived last night via surrogate,” revealed the Wades last week. “11/7 will forever be etched in our hearts as the most loveliest of all the lovely days. Welcome to the party sweet girl,” the two wrote on their social media accounts.

Wade was absent from the Miami Heat game on Wednesday night, and the birth of his first daughter was the reason.

Union and Wade wed in August 2014 and soon experienced fertility issues. The Being Mary Jane star wrote about having eight to nine miscarriages in her New York Times best-selling memoir, We’re Going to Need More Wine.

In July, Union appeared on Dr. Oz’s daytime show and spoke about the failed pregnancies.

“Initially, I didn’t know what the issue was,” she said. “I got off birth control, I got married and I was ready to start a family. I didn’t think there was going to be any problem, and there was. So I was always having these early miscarriages. Some from IVF, some just naturally happening.”

The actress later learned she was unable to conceive due to a type of endometriosis, a disorder in which tissue that normally lines the uterus grows outside the uterus.

Their latest bundle of joy will join a blended family. The couple raises two of Wade’s three sons and one of his nephews. Union made headlines in the summer for discussing how she tackles colorism with her stepsons.

In September, the star spoke to EBONY about her businesses and why she doesn’t adhere to the myth of balance as a working mom.

“My husband is living his best life,” she told the publication. “He’s carefree, but it’s also because no one is putting s**t on his plate about him having to balance anything. He’s open about having a village that helps with childcare. He’s honest about not having every business answer because he has a team in place.”
