New comer Gallant enlist fellow new kid on the block Dua Lipa for an emotional cover of “Tears Dry Own Their Own” in memory of the late Amy Winehouse.

In honor of what would have been her 34th year around the sun, the duo offered their own flare to the Salaam Remi-produced cut, which appeared on Winehouse’s classic 2006 album Back to Black. Backed by a live band, the cover was “Episode 6” of Gallant’s current “In the Room” series, which has also featured collaborations with Andra Day, John Legend, Sufjan Stevens, and Seal.

Dua is a fantastic artist and I was shocked to hear she wanted to do an episode of ‘In the Room’ with me,” Gallant shared with The FADER. “I think we created a special moment together.”

Dua mirrored his enthusiasm: “I loved working on this song with Gallant, he’s so talented,” she mused. “I was so excited to have the opportunity to work with him, he’s a true artist through and through.”

Amy Winehouse passed away in London on July 23, 2011 but her iconic sound and influence will forever live on. Check out the video below.
