From School Daze to the 2019 flick Captain Marvel and every single film in between, Samuel L. Jackson is one of the highest grossing box office stars of all time, having pulled in over $4.9 billion dollars to the box office and counting. With a career that has spanned three decades, Jackson, like many other A-listers, is setting his sights on television.

Jonathan Steinberg, the co-creator of Black Sails and Warren Littlefield, who serves as the executive producer of Fargo and The Handmaid’s Tale, are adapting Thomas Perry’s thriller The Old Man for TV. The best-selling novel focuses on Dan Chase, a widower living in Vermont. Dan is hiding a dark secret. A retired intelligence agent, he is haunted by a horribly botched operation that occurred while he was working in Libya 35-years prior. Now it seems like his past has caught up with him.

Jackson will star in as Dan Chase (obviously) in what will be his first ever series regular role on TV.

According to Deadline, the series has already been pitched to both basic and pay cable networks. It looks like a bidding war might even be on the horizon since FX, TNT, HBO, Showtime, Netflix, Hulu and Amazon are said to already have offers on the table.

Until the series hits the airwaves, you can catch Jackson in The Hitman’s Bodyguard when it debuts in theaters Aug. 17.
