During Saturday’s episode of OVO Sound Radio led by Oliver El-Khatib, the OVO founder premiered a new track by The Weeknd. Abel Tesfaye came through with a cover of R. Kelly‘s “Down Low (Nobody Has to Know),” and although good, it couldn’t have come at a worst time. Keeping things on the “down low” seems to be Kelly’s speciality, and the recent abusive cult allegations only adds fuel to the fire. Situations like the aforementioned continue to beg the question of whether we should separate the artist from their art and The Weeknd might agree. The canadian singer comes at the track from a different angle, allowing the heavy bass and modern-day sounds to live in the background of his falsetto croons.
