Hip-hop has become the No. 1 genre globally. On Monday, Billboard shared that the music born in the South Bronx has become a mainstay on the Hot 100 chart.

“Rap songs have now led the #Hot100 for a record-extending 34 consecutive weeks,” the publication stated on Twitter.

The streak began in the week of Jan. 27, 2018, with Camila Cabello’s song “Havana” featuring Young Thug. Childish Gambino’s viral hit, “This Is America,” spent two weeks in the No. I spot. “Psycho” by Post Malone featuring Ty Dolla $igng, XXXTentacion’s “SAD!,” and Cardi B’s “I Like It” with Bad Bunny and J Balvin each spent one week in the top spot.

Drake proved to be a force on the Hot 100 with his tracks “God’s Plan,” “Nice for What” and “In My Feelings” collectively spending 28 weeks at the top of the chart so far.
