Idris Elba has been named People magazine’s Sexiest Man of 2018. To celebrate, the Luther actor and part-time DJ created his own sexy playlist perfect for setting the mood.
With the help of Spotify, Elba is sharing his favorite sultry tunes, breaking down many of his selections with People.
“My first sexy song is Marvin Gaye ‘Let’s Get It On.’ I was about 4 years old when I first heard the song and it lasted a lifetime.
“The next song is the classic from Jodeci, ‘Cry For You.’ I remember playing this song in the parties and, you know, you get to dance the slow whine.
“The next song is a classic of mine, something that I played when I was DJing house parties at the end of the night, and it’s a song called “Try Love Again” by The Natural Four.
“My next sexy song is a soul classic by the wonderful Angie Stone, a tune called ‘Brotha.’ Love it.
“Next sexy song? ‘Lets Stay Together.’ It’s one of the first songs my dad played for me, and it stuck with me for years and years. When I say romantic, I mean romantic!
“‘Turn Your Lights Down Low’ by Bob Marley and Lauryn Hill really puts you in the mood, know what I mean?”

The humble superstar was surprised when he first heard news of being the sexiest man alive, telling the publication, “Come on, no way. Really?”
“I looked in the mirror, I checked myself out. I was like, ‘Yeah, you are kind of sexy today,’ ” the Luther star joked. “But to be honest, it was just a nice feeling. It was a nice surprise—an ego boost for sure.”
Elba is the 33rd man to hold the title and the third Black man to do so, behind Denzel Washington (1996) and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson (2016), according to a list compiled by ABC News.
