Last weekend at New Birth Missionary Baptist Church, thousands witnessed a divine miracle. No, the resurrection did not happen, God did not come back to Earth; and no, the Seven Seals weren’t broken open to release Revelations. Instead, what many saw and celebrated was the proclamation that Bishop Eddie Long is now a king. The video, which made its YouTube debut earlier this week, saw the controversial Christian become appointed by Rabbi Ralph Messer in a unique ceremony.

Messer, who has his own doubters, proclaims that within Long “was a K-chromosome,” and that “in him is kingship.” To be specific, Messer shouts to anyone within earshot that Long “was brought through the slaves, raised up in a city, and God now wants to release a new anointing.”

The whole thing seems bizarre, and appears to be a smokescreen to cover Eddie Long’s recent transgressions. On a scale of 1 to 10 (1 being “not at all” and 10 being “very”), how ridiculous is this?
