For the quirky and awkward being in us all, Issa Rae produces creative content that’s hella relatable to our lives.

From easing out of uncomfortable social conversations to giving yourself a confidence boost in the privacy of your own bathroom, Rae’s comical content provides a safe space for all things thought to be “weird.”

Since entering the scene off the popularity of her web series, Misadventures of Awkward Black Girl, Rae’s creative voice and unique perspective has opened the path to wide opportunity. The latest being her upcoming series, Insecure, where she serves as creator, writer, actress and co-producer alongside Larry Wilmore.

The series, which premieres on HBO tonight, centers on two best friends navigating life, love and socially off-beat adventures in south Los Angeles.

While stopping through Chicago for a screening of the eight-episode comedy, EBONY caught up with everybody’s favorite awkward chick to have a little lightning round fun.

Watch it unfold uptop and check out our full interview with Issa Rae in the OCT/NOV issue of EBONY, on newsstands now!
