Insecure creator and star Issa Rae is the star of the latest Samsung Galaxy Note9 commercial, which aired on Monday during the 2018 Emmy Awards broadcast. The ad looks back on Rae’s rise to fame from her web series, The Misadventures of Awkward Black Girl, to her hit HBO series.
The cover of EBONY’s September 2018 issue, on which Rae is featured, appeared in the commercial.
“Keep making until you make it,” is the advice Rae offered to the ad’s viewers. The commercial was directed by Lacey Duke and is part of Samsung’s Do What You Can’t campaign.
Rae received her first Emmy nomination, for Lead Actress in a Comedy Series, this year.
