The Braxton sisters’ recent session with life coach Iyanla Vanzant didn’t end well for at least one of them, with Tamar storming out of the room after feeling forced to discuss her past sexual abuse. The Love & War singer has since been vocal about her distaste for Vanzant, both on social media and on The Wendy Williams Show. The OWN star may now be considering taking the youngest Braxton to court over her statements.
The Jasmine Brand reports Vanzant will dispute Braxton’s public claim that they appeared on Iyanla: Fix My Life when Iyanla actually appeared on the Braxton Family Values finale. Vanzant is also allegedly concerned with comments the songbird made after ditching the session.
“Referring to Iyanla as a ‘fake’ and a ‘fraud’ could have serious implications on the casting process for Iyanla Fix My Life and her reputation in general. It’s her duty to protect her reputation, brand and OWN’s brand. At this point, this is defamation and there should be consequences.”
Braxton took to Instagram following her appearance on Wendy, telling fans that she felt blindsided by Vanzant’s decision to share something so private about her life without her permission.
“Since someone there decided that they would ask me about something so private, so embarrassing, so secretive in front of EVERYONE that was there, I felt like my life was flashing before my eyes and IMMEDIATELY started to cry. Not because someone decided to allow someone else to tell MY SECRET, not because I was asked if it were True in front of a hundred strangers, but because once again my right to choose was taken from me all over again.”
