Jada Pinkett Smith said sex was just one of the “several” addictions she has dealt with during the latest episode of Red Table Talk.  The actress along with her mother, Adrienne Banfield-Jones, singer August Alsina and sister-in-law Ashley Smith delved into the topic of addiction and substance abuse.

All the people seated at the table have either overcome an addiction or are working on dropping a habit. Banfield-Jones was addicted to heroin during Jada’s childhood. Alsina was abusing Percocet after passing out and falling off a stage in 2014. Smith recently decided to kick her weed habit after smoking daily since the death of both her parents.

Pinkett Smith did not open up about her own vices until later in the episode when answering a question from a fan. “My sort of addictions jump. They jump around,” she said. “When I was younger, I definitely think I had a sex addiction of some kind. Yes, that everything could be fixed by sex.”

As she matured she became a gym rat and then realized she was binge-drinking when she was home alone one night. While she’s able to go cold turkey on her obsessions, she revealed it’s the behaviors associated with the acts that she has to monitor.

“It’s not what you’re doing but how you’re with it. Why you’re doing it. It’s the behavior that’s attached to it because if you want to have a lot of sex, that’s great, but why are you having all that sex? That’s what you’ve got to look at.”
