MTV just announced that Jennifer Lopez would be given its highest honor, the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award, which recognizes contributions through visual arts, at the 2018 Video Music Awards show.

The Bronx native started her career as a Fly Girl dancer on the sketch comedy series In Living Color in 1991. She later ventured into acting and music and released her debut album, On the 6, in 1999. Lopez went on to deliver iconic videos for songs including “Waiting for Tonight” and “If You Had My Love.”

She will be joining the ranks of Vanguard Award winners, who include Hype Williams, LL Cool J, Beyoncé, Kanye West, Rihanna and Justin Timberlake. Michael Jackson won in 1988; although it was first presented in 1984, it was renamed in his honor in 1991.

Lopez will be performing live at the show and is nominated in two categories including Best Collaboration and Best Latin for her newest hit single, “Dinero,” with Cardi B and DJ Khaled. The music network earlier this month announced the nominees for this year’s awards, who include The Carters, Childish Gambino, Drake and Bruno Mars.

The Video Music Awards ceremony will air on MTV live from Radio City Music Hall on Aug. 20 at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT.
