Jermaine Dupri has been penning certified hits for over 20 years and is now getting the recognition he deserves.

The Atlanta artist was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame Thursday (June 14), becoming only the second rapper to do so following JAY-Z’s induction last year.

This year’s event took place at the Marquis Hotel in New York City, with two of Dupri’s biggest collaborators, Usher and Mariah Carey, walking the red carpet with the hit maker.

“Congratulations @jermainedupri on getting inducted into the @songwritershof,” Carey shared on Instagram. “See ya in the studio to continue making magic!”

Dupri and Carey have co-written several of her biggest hits, including “Honey,” “Always Be My Baby” and “We Belong Together.”

The evening included a performance by Dupri and a speech from Confessions collaborator Usher, who had the honor of officially inducting his friend of over two decades, according to XXL.

JD and Usher have co-written several other chart toppers as well, including “U Got It Bad,” “You Make Me Wanna,” “Nice & Slow” and “My Way.”
