The CW is becoming known for its superhero dramas. The network hosts popular series such as Arrow, Supergirl, The Flash and more, and now it will soon add its first Black superhero, Black Lightning.

Singer and actress Jill Scott has just landed a role in the upcoming drama, starring as DC villain Lady Eve, according to Deadline.

Based on the DC character created by Tony Isabella with Trevor Von Eeden, Black Lightning centers on Jefferson Pierce (Cress Williams), a retired superhero who is pulled back into the fight as a wanted vigilante.

Scott’s Lady Eve presents herself as the owner of a funeral parlor, but quickly becomes an adversary to our protagonist.

The “Whenever You’re Around” singer has appeared in films such as Why Did I Get Married?, Get on Up, Baggage Claim and Steel Magnolias, among others. She’s also made several television guest appearances and has appeared on Broadway.

Whether singing or acting, the 45-year-old has come to realize fame has its downsides.

“I talked to a lot of people about fame … I asked Michael Jordan, Patti Labelle, Denzel Washington, Quincy Jones, anybody who came in my face. And I got some advice, but I realized it was something that I had to figure out on my own,” she shared with TheHuffingtonPost. “There is no book. But I can tell you if that is the plan, that you want to be famous, just understand, there is a cost. There are going to be friends and family that you loose, that you must.”
