Fresh off his awards season run with the critically acclaimed film Fences,  Jovan Adepo has landed another juicy role. The British-born-American-raised actor will headline J.J. Abrams’ World War II thriller, Overlord.

Here’s how Deadline describes the plot:

On the eve of D-Day, American paratroopers are dropped behind enemy lines to carry out a mission crucial to the invasion’s success. But as they approach their target, they begin to realize there is more going on in this Nazi-occupied village than a simple military operation. They find themselves fighting against supernatural forces, part of a Nazi experiment.

In addition to Adepo–who is also a series regular on HBO’s The Leftovers–Overlord will co-star Wyatt Russell and will be produced by Abrams’ Bad Robot and Paramount.

The film is set to begin production in the U.K. in May.
