There are no limitations to Kevin Hart’s hustle. The world’s highest paid comedian isn’t just the biggest because of his talents. He’s the biggest because he creates opportunities that don’t just leverage his star power, but also empowers those who support him and those coming behind him. His latest deal with the HISTORY channel proves just that.

Recently, HISTORY greenlit the entertainer’s latest project Kevin Hart Presents: The Black Man’s Guide to History, a look at lesser-known, yet important Black history stories filtered through the lens of Kevin Hart. Hart will star and executive produce the two-hour event through his production company Hartbeat Productions and Comedy Dynamics.

“I’m very excited to be working with HISTORY on this show because not only is it entertaining, and it’s hysterical, but it also is an important program for our country right now,” Hart said. “We hope to make people laugh and learn a bit too.”

The show begins as Hart finds his daughter Heaven upset after watching the film 12 Years A Slave, believing that Black history appears to only be about slavery and oppression. While movies and films about slavery are important, the mogul goes on to share more diverse stories about our history.

The Black Man’s Guide to History will feature stories about Matthew Henson, the first person to go to the North Pole, but did not receive the credit; Robert Smalls, a former slave who led a revolt on a Confederate warship and pretended to be the captain to evade capture; Mae Jemison, the first Black female astronaut; and Henry “Box” Brown, an enslaved man who courageously mailed himself to a free state in a box.

What an incredible opportunity to share our history in a way that’s easy for our kids to consume and understand! Kudos to Kevin, who back in our October Men’s issue, stated that he puts on for his people, regardless of mainstream fame.

“I love my people. I have never not stood by my people and by my race. You know what I love? I love representing my race at the highest level,” Hart said. “I love representing my race all over the world at the highest level.”
