We’ve long heard reports of LeBron James bringing a Space Jam sequel to the masses, and it appears the NBA baller is making headway, locking in Black Panther director, Ryan Coogler, to produce the kid-friendly flick.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Coogler will produce and Terence Nance of HBO’s Random Acts of Flyness will direct. Production is tentatively set to begin in 2019 during the NBA off-season.

“I loved his vision for Black Panther. So, for Ryan to be able to bring that to kids, it’s amazing. The Space Jam collaboration is so much more than just me and the Looney Tunes getting together and doing this movie,” said James, “It’s so much bigger. I’d just love for kids to understand how empowered they can feel and how empowered they can be if they don’t just give up on their dreams. And I think Ryan did that for a lot of people.”

In July, James announced his collaboration with Octavia Spencer on a new show starring the Oscar winner based on the life of the first self-made female millionaire in America, Madam C.J. Walker. The eight-episode series will be based on the book On Our Own Ground by A’Lelia Bundles, Walker’s great-great-granddaughter, who will also serve as a consultant for the show.

James is also set to produce the Showtime documentary Shut Up and Dribble. The three-part series will chronicle the changing role of athletes in the current political environment. It was inspired by conservative talking head Laura Ingraham’s jab at James after players from the Golden State Warriors declined an invitation to the White House following the 2018 NBA Finals.
