For Marlon Wayans, there’s comedy in everything. His humor is dark, witty and probably leaning on the offensive side. But given the attention he attracts and the performance of his box office hits? Yeah, it’s clear that we are loving it as well as the unpredictability of his antics.

The youngest of the infamous Wayans’ clan, Marlon embraces being the wild card. “I don’t even know what I’m going to do,” the 43-year-old admits to EBONY during a sit-down interview.

Clearly, his unpredictability has paid off over the past 20 years in his roles as an actor and writer.  He also excels in business as a producer and director.

From comedic spoofs Don’t Be A Menace to South Central While Drinking Your Juice in The Hood, Scary Movie and Scary Movie 2, on through paranormal screen gems, A Haunted House and A Haunted House 2, Marlon has developed a sizable and loyal fan base who cannot wait for his next big release, Fifty Shades of Black (in theaters Jan. 29).

“There’s no formula for picking the spoof,” he says of his most recent choice and past parodies.  “It’s weird. When it hits you, you’ll know it and when you start writing, it just flows.”

With Fifty Shades of Black (a send-up of the steamy Fifty Shades of Grey) Marlon and crew deliver a classy cinematic feel with a load of twisted antics. Where we see Christian Grey maintaining a low-register mystique that pays off between the bed sheets, Christian Black oozes sex appeal but apparently, he doesn’t deliver. Intertwined with jabs about his bad loving, are cracks at pop culture.

To hear the ultra physical actor discuss the twisted ways of Christian Black, his growth as an artist and what’s next for his maniacal mockery, press play and enjoy.
